About

Training you and your dog

Understanding your dog is key.  Our aim is to create a fun relationship between puppy, dog and owner using science-based, force free, positive methods for both pet dogs and gundogs.  We concentrate on dealing with your dog’s real life challenges both mentally and practically.  Our gundog classes cater for those who are keen to work in the field or compete in trials and working tests, and also those who simply want their dog to enjoy the structure and stimulation of the discipline they were bred for.

Mandy Bloomfield

Head Trainer

I have been dog training since 2007 and founded Field and Fido in 2016.  What I love most about my job is helping owners build a strong bond with their dogs.  My passion is gundog training, which developed as I trained my first Lab, Monty.  I have three Labradors and two working cockers, all of which I work on shoots.  I also enter the odd working test.

I am committed to ongoing Continuing Professional Development and am required to complete this as an accredited instructor for the GTA and a registered member of the Animal Behaviour and Training Council.

Jane Longson

Trainer

Before becoming a dog trainer, I taught and tutored for over 20 years in mainstream and special need schools, whilst juggling a family of three children.  I “retired” from teaching 5 years ago and bought Archie, a Sprocker Spaniel, with the intention of using him as a “read to me” dog when tutoring. After 2 years he was joined by Maddie an English Springer Spaniel.  After much research I enrolled in the 2019 APDT Foundation Course and this changed my life completely.  During the first residential weekend I met Mandy and the rest is history.  I have continued my personal development in 2020 by attending the APDT Part Two Course and The Gun Dog Trainers Academy Handlers Course and next year I plan to attend the Gun Dog Trainers Academy Teachers Course.
